In 2023, kudzu was a significant invasive plant problem in Florida, with over 40 counties suffering from infestations, especially in the Panhandle. According to the Florida Department of Agriculture, Japanese representatives first brought the plant to the U.S. for the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exposition.
