Kudzu Infestation
in Kentucky
Current Kudzu Coverage in Kentucky
In 2023, kudzu coverage in Kentucky was a significant concern, particularly in Southeast Kentucky, where it was most concentrated, but it was also found in most other counties. This fast-growing invasive vine, known for its ability to dominate sites, threatened ecosystems by crowding out native species. The University of Kentucky's Forestry and Natural Resources department noted that kudzu thrives in various locations like forest edges, rights-of-way, and stream banks.
